Computer Lab

To better prepare our students to compete in today's society, McKinley School has a state-of-the-art computer lab.  Students in grade 1-5 cycle through this cutting edge lab consisting of 30 high-end PCs running the latest Windows operating system and educational software.
 

  • Grade 1 - Students learn basic keyboarding with sight/spelling words. Educational math programs reinforces classroom curriculum.
     
  • Grade 2 - Students learn basic keyboarding with spelling words. Educational math/language arts software reinforces classroom curriculum.
     
  • Grade 3 - Students learn basic keyboarding with our typing tutor program, UltraKey 5.0. Students are introduced to the Internet and webpage navigation/research. Math & language arts software reinforces classroom curriculum.
     
  • Grade 4 - Students learn basic keyboarding with our typing tutor program, UltraKey 5.0. Students learn how to navigate multiple Internet websites for research. Students also learn how to use an Internet search engine to answer inquiries and complete projects. Basic word processing skills and basic webpage making skills are also introduced.
     
  • Grade 5 - Students learn basic keyboarding with our typing tutor program, UltraKey 5.0. Students learn how to navigate multiple Internet websites for research. Students also learn how to use an Internet search engine to answer inquiries and complete projects. Basic word processing skills and basic webpage making skills are also introduced. At the end of year, as time permits, 5th graders may also be asked to make a simple movie and yearbook.
